A PAIR OF PYRAMIDAL ORCHIDS

Now whereas the numbers of Bee Orchids are vastly reduced, POSSIBLY, compared to last year the numbers of Anacamptis are only slightly reduced.

So doing a running year by year study of the local British Orchids here is the site of the Pyramidal Orchids, which is site 1 of course as its the only one! Well only one I have found thus far!

PYRAMIDAL ORCHIDS JUNE 2014

First venture out, proper that is, this year and just in time to!

Now this is site number one using my definitions and the Pyrmidal Orchids were out in force, where when I was there last 6 weeks back and very ill there was no sign of them at all!

I do a pan shot video and get a few photos and videos of exceptionally coloured specimens.

Now I do not know how I did it but I walked directly the to the remarkably indistnguishable spot where either last year or maybe the year before I spotted three other Orchis species to the two I had read were on the site?! However it was a bit different because there were two and they were farther apart than I remember. Despite the flowers dried up and finished when I spotted them the first time I did think that of the three Orchids there were two types?! This time there were just two and they were both Common Spotted Orchids I will post up next.

Yes the Bee Orchids were also out but not like they were last year and in all honesty the grass and weeds have grown exceptionally high which may have hindered their growth due to bloking light. Even my garden and the edges of the local playing fields the grasses and weeds are three feet high and I have never seen them this high before, not even later in the year!

One part of the River Lea towpath even felt like I was being swamped in a section thats normally very open!

A PYRAMID AMONG BLADES

I spotted a fourth species of Orchid at this site with these appearing, though late, Pyramidal Orchids among the Common Twayblade Orchids.

PYRAMIDAL ORCHIDS in JULY

Again Google cannot locate their own videos nor offer me a selection larger than ten, though I added 50?!

God they should go back to search engines only! What with the other messes they have getting ever bigger, lol.

VIDEOS of PYRAMIDAL ORCHIDS - ANACAMPTIS PYRAMIDALIS

A DAY WITH ORCHIDS: EXPERIMENTAL WITH PYRAMIDALS

OK a few wider shots and a few experimental shots that are even wider STILL!!

LOL.

Well they are panoramic shots that I want to do more of from now on of they are a hit with viewers of course, lol.

On a bank right next to where I stopped with my old cycling buddy who himself was interested to see the Orchids but they never showed and he never saw them. This was a few feet from where we were hiding from the rain one year, lol.

This shot is a panoramic one that I tested to see if I could have narrower shots and choose where I want the photo to end.

This following shot was mad and came out a bit mad but was not that difficult to do! It also can be stopped at any point or you can just continue and it also allows you to PAN in the four axes, up, down, left and right. As soon as you move in the direction you want the camera knows and presents you with an arrow to guide you to keep steady. GREAT STUFF!!

A good background shot!

A DAY WITH ORCHIDS: PYRAMIDAL ORCHIDS - ANACAMPTIS PYRAMIDALIS

Well here we go again and this time with very good light!!

Now a whole long sequence of Pyramidal Orchid, Anacamptis pyramidalis, but not all of them I have to try and show how the colour varies ever so slightly. From dark to light and some that look dark but with lighter parts in the tongue that gives the impression of a whitish stripe, or just lighter stripe. Very delicate though and hope it shows in the pictures, lol.

DAY OF THE ORCHIDS - PYRAMIDAL ORCHID ANACAMPTIS PYRAMIDALIS Part TWO

More Pyramidal Orchids but this time with a few wider shots each of which were never in the same place twice!

Also you may spot something...else in one of the pictures, lol.

I really did get a shock up at this site and it spurred me ever onward to the point of utter exhaustion despite the pills, umm or because of them?! LMAO!

Well that is after spotting two other species of Orchids and then cycling away and realising I now had three species BAGGED and I had not even reached the main park yet?!

DAY OF THE ORCHIDS - PYRAMIDAL ORCHID ANACAMPTIS PYRAMIDALIS Part ONE

OK now this site I had been visiting for sometime now and had seen nothing, two years in fact

Only now with a NEW camera and this blog I was really determined to stay on this site until it showed me....something!

Only when I dragged myself out the house and onto my bike to get something for this blog and change the lack of content I had provided I was in fair a fair few surprises?!

Not only were these Pyramidal Orchids actually out but while getting photos I then spot no less than TWO other species!

Remember I have been visiting this site around 5 or 6 years now, lol!!

ORCHID DAY PREVIEW OF BREAKING RECORDS

Right now my neck is killing me and I am very knackered and yet I am about to go out...AGAIN!

Only THIS time I am going on foot and leaving the dreaded BIKE here as I have been out on it for HOURS and HOURS!!

But I thought I would explain why and where I was while out and about on my bike.

I dragged myself out on the bike and cycled up to my usual visits and had not intended to go that far and was going to do many things while I was out.

Only Location number one where I was hoping to get one species of Orchid I had not seen there for a couple of weeks not only had it in abundance but shock of shocks while photographing I then spy something out the corner of my eye and bugger me gently over a table it is a second species?! I had they were there but not seen one in 6 years of looking?!

Not only that but as I am looking for more of the abundant species I only go and find a THIRD species?!

Then I head off to location two thinking bloody hell I have just got shots of THREE SPECIES of British Orchids and I have not reached the main park yet?! I then think if I get to the next one and get that other elusive species this will be four?! Plus if any others are among them them maybe 5?!

Then I decide to keep on going, not good as I had not eaten anything or drank much, to see if I can hit some personal record for not only seeing but getting snap shots of many species in just one outing?!

I get that fourth species and get a few others at the same site!!

So then I go off to Location 3 and get a load of photographs and then off to Location 4 and to my surprise there are more Orchids than I have seen in years at these spots.

So in all I got snapshots of 6 species of Orchid all in flower at the same time on the same day...JUST ABOUT!

Did look for Early Purple at one location I thought I had seen them before to make 7 species but to no avail.

I am knackered right now and I have a painfully stiff....NECK! LOL.

This is because I just finished editing all the photographs to prepare for posting up and had to place them into individual folders for each of the locations!

I also got a few other things too like several Poppies and a Blue Butterfly including a few videos of it?!

The Blue Butterfly was another achievement I had wanted for sometime and now other types of Blue Butterflies are my goal as well as many other species of Butterfly too.

So that is what my focus will turn to now and that is Butterflies and Insects and hopefully some bid species thrown in from time to time.

So over the weekend is going to be a series of like a dozen posts, at a guess lol, of the 129 photos (about 25% of what I took) that I have edited!
