THE COCKCHAFER BEETLE or MAY BUG - MELOLONTHA MELOLONTHA

Well it is July and not MAY but these Cockchafer Beetles were out in some force?!

This one was stuck upside down and I let him grab the end of my walking stick, photographed and filmed him then placed him on some grass where he or she was safe on the other side of a wall!

A night or two before there were over a dozen of these at the end of my road?! This was taken about three days back.

A RED TAILED GREEN BEETLE ON A POPPY

A small iredescent Green Beetle with a red tail milling around the centre of an Oriental Poppy, Papaver orientalis.

I do not know the name of this beetle but its colour along with its surroundings made for a few good picture.
