A GOLDEN COLOURED DRAGONFLY

A very peculiar coloured Dragonfly, not Damselfly because it holds it wings out and that is one difference between the two.

Probably a female Darter of some sort and there are Common Darters in the area. This is at Cottonmill Stream which is a welll known Dragonfly sanctuary. Not as many as the authorites would have you believe, not even close but I have so far seen three or four large Dragonflies of the Hawker group (Brown, err Migrants last year and the other looking like that one, Emperor), Banded Demoiselles are always in large and impressive numbers too. Also seen Red Eyed Damselflies and pictured them but rubbish. Hopefully this year some good and sharp shots.

DARTER DRAGONFLY

These photos have to be SEEN to be BELIEVED and really show me now that the Olympus SP-820UZ was never working from day one or an extremely CRAP CAMERA and not what it claimed to be!!

A shame then that this one from Argos is also FAULTY and a Nikon Coolpix P520 and out of the box I noticed marks on the lens and it freezes up several times a day! That is an understatement as it did it three times in a couple of hours and would not even change the modes when switched?!

Another text to a brother for some taxonomy!!

KNew it was a Dragonfly but which one and I was not familiar with this one, on seeing the name I could see why it was called a chaser and I have a video of this female flitting back and forth in a triangular fashion before hovering for about a minute before moving on.

The females, I am told, are bright blue and now I am keen to see not only the males but many more Dargonflies to boot!!
